PHP, PGP, Linux, HTML, Flash The French Culinary Institute is one of the premiere culinary schools in the world, offering courses in a variety of cooking techniques and specialties. The French Culinary Institute wanted to upgrade the user interface of their web site, as well as focus the site's energy towards generating new student sign-ups. The web site needed to provide prospective students a mechanism for registering with The French Culinary Institute, a long and in-depth process. Standpipe was brought onboard to redesign the site as well as integrate an easy-to-use and comprehensive application process into the site, tied into an e-commerce transaction service. Standpipe divided the application process into a number of steps and developed the framework for the various options and paths prospective students could take. The application process was connected to an e-commerce transaction service, so that, students paid the application fee immediately before being accepted into The French Culinary Institute. Applications submitted to The French Culinary Institute via email were encrypted using PGP to ensure security. The e-commerce component was seamlessly tied into the rest of the re-designed site, in order to provide a straightforward and pointed path towards registering - which remains one of The French Culinary Institute's primary goals for the site.
