An Easy Guide to How to Build Your Own Magnetic Loop
Part List with Pictures
Parts You'll Need:1. 90 Degree Elbows: Quantity 4.
Make sure these elbows have the same size socket on both end of the elbow. There are many types of elbows and some types connect to smaller or larger tubing. So please check each one!
2. Three and half foot peices of .5 inch copper: Quantity 4
3. Copper end caps: Quantity 2.
These simply go on the open ends of the loop and make for nice finishing touch.
4. Small Radiator clamps: Quantity 4.
These devices are a present from heaven. They are strong, are easy to use, and will stay put once tightened into place. They are extreamly versitle.
5. RG8U or RG-213 Coax: Quauntity about 20 FT.
You will use this for your coaxial capacitive stubs. You may also choose to use this as a feed line. You want to stay away from double braided coax like 9913 or LMR products because they are very hard to work with when it comes to splicing off braid and outer shields.
6. Copper Wire #10 or smaller/copper refrigerator tubing. 10 FT.
This wire or tubing is used for the feed point. The thicker the better.

Where to get the Parts:
I would recommend going to a good hardware store that has excellent customer service (not a large name brand megastore). There are several important reasons I mention this issue. They will actually help you pick out the parts you need and illustrate first hand how to use them. They will also many times cut the copper pipe for you, and show you how to do that as well.
